Invertebrates of the Galapagos
A walk along the rocks at low tide reveals many treasures, including an introduction to a variety of Galapagos marine animals. See starfish, sea anemones and sea urchins in tide pools or catch a Sally Lightfoot Crab scuttling across the rocks.
Galapagos Island invertebrates are abundant both at the water’s edge and underwater. While snorkeling or scuba diving, visitors may glimpse an octopus or sea cucumber or find lobsters hiding in rocky crevices.
In addition to its diverse invertebrate population, the Galapagos Islands are home to a variety of mammals, birds, fish, insects and reptiles, including one the islands’ top attractions, the Galapagos Giant Tortoise.
