Fish

A blue-eyed damselfish swims soundless along the reef’s edge. Below, a stingray graces the sandy bottom. Many of the Galapagos Islands’ greatest wonders lie underwater. More than 450 species of fish make their home here, and many are found nowhere else on earth.

Galapagos diving and snorkeling tours provide a unique opportunity to see schools of thousands of colorful tropical fish, including white-banded angelfish, yellow-tailed surgeonfish, blue parrotfish and puffer fish, to name a few. Several species of shark, including the white-tipped reef shark, the Galapagos shark and the hammerhead also can be found, along with stingrays and manta rays.

Galapagos diving tours offer some of the best opportunities to experience Galapagos Island tropical fish and marine mammals in their natural environment. Snorkeling and scuba diving tours are available for visitors or all experience levels.
